The Pediatric GI Teaching for an Inclusive Tomorrow (TFIT) Program is sponsored by the NASPGHAN Foundation for Children’s Digestive Health & Nutrition. TFIT aims to encourage exceptional residents to consider subspecialty training in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition. All participants in Teaching and Tomorrow attend three tailored career panel discussions/sessions in addition to a very popular social networking reception, where they are invited as a group to meet with current fellows, as well as program director representatives from across GI fellowship programs in North America.  Through these tailored and one-on-one meetings, we share our enthusiasm and guidance for careers in pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition.

The NASPGHAN Foundation is also committed to being intentionally inclusive of all races, ethnicities, genders, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds from across North America. We recognize that different perspectives are crucial to our ability to advance Pediatric Gastroenterology as a noble profession, which aligns with our mission. As such, we have expanded the Teaching and Tomorrow Program to name up to 10 Teaching for an Inclusive Tomorrow scholars among interested 1st- and 2nd-year pediatric residents and 4th-year medical students. Scholars will be chosen based on their unique qualities, including but not limited to significant personal achievements, first-generation student status, low-income backgrounds, commitment to work with underserved communities, or having overcome other hardships.

In addition to networking with other participants while attending the program’s scheduled sessions, scholarship awardees will be matched with a NASPGHAN fellow and/or attending physician (often themselves a Teaching and Tomorrow Program alumnus) who will serve as an additional professional contact and NASPGHAN ambassador.

Recipients of the Teaching for an Inclusive Tomorrrow Scholarship receive travel, lodging, registration (including Annual Meeting and Postgraduate Course) and meals with programming. 

TFIT Scholarship Applications will be awarded in August, 2026.
