Candidates: Students in good standing at accredited medical schools in the U.S. and Canada who have completed at minimum their first year of medical training. Preference will be given to students who are seeking a research experience between the first and second years of medical school, though applications from all currently enrolled students will be considered. Additional consideration will include past experience, personal background, race/ethnicity, and current opportunities and research as well as interest in pediatrics and research in our selection.
Mentors: M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. members of NASPGHAN with a track record of independent peer-reviewed research, previous success with trainees (students, residents, or fellows), and a commitment to provide the necessary resources to make the experience meaningful for the student are eligible to serve as mentors. Mentors will provide documentation of productivity (CV), grant support sufficient to support the research activities of the summer student, and previous experience with trainees. The Advisory Committee will approve all mentors.
Stipend for the program: $4,000.00. To be fully paid to student in installments with confirmation of initiation, mid-point progress and completion of the project. (Not for use for research expenses.)
