This course is designed to provide specialized hepatology education to pediatric gastroenterologists and offers a unique opportunity to enhance knowledge and skills in a small group setting. It is particularly beneficial for practitioners who are not at a transplant center and who do not have a hepatologist in their practice.  

Invited attendees will be limited to 30.

All attendees will receive complimentary registration, one-night lodging, meals and round-trip travel up to $500. The attendee is responsible for any additional expenses.

Eligibility and Criteria for Award Selection: The selection process is competitive based on eligibility criteria. The committee will review all applications and make their decisions by mid-February. Committee decisions are final.

This bootcamp seeks to enhance the hepatology knowledge of 3rd year fellows and general pediatric gastroenterologists who are not at a liver transplant center and do not have a hepatologist on their staff. Preference will be given to those in community and private practices. Transplant hepatologists and fellows who are pursuing an advanced fourth year of training in transplant hepatology are ineligible.

 All interested applicants must be:

  • NASPGHAN members and have their membership dues paid in full. 
  • Completed Pediatric gastroenterology fellowship within the last 15 years or be a 3rd year pediatric GI fellow at a program without liver transplant
  • Be based in North America.

Program Overview: The course will include 2 didactic lectures, a series of small group discussions and hands-on case-based learning.

  • Cholestatic infant- Diagnostic pointers including genetic panels
  • Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease
  • Pediatric Acute Liver Failure
  • A practical approach to Liver masses
  • Autoimmune liver diseases
  • Evaluation and management of chronic liver disease
  • Management of the long-term survivor of pediatric liver transplantation by the pediatric gastroenterologist
  • Novel drugs in pediatric liver disease
  • And more…
